Nothing comes from nothing…
That quote from King Lear resonated with me. Lear meant it in a sort of selfish way and banishes his faithful daughter, Cordelia, for speaking the truth. Hard to love that one.
I always try to find the truth in the character I portray even if that requires a bit of substitution. With any art form, the brilliance is in the details. Those little glimmers of humanity that connect us and remind us that we are not alone.
Nothing meaningful comes without investment and preparation. Success is more rewarding if I’ve worked hard to achieve it. Mom was right about that one. Luck may present opportunities, but those paths aren’t sustainable without diligence and passion for the work.
Focusing on the vocal aspect of acting allows me more creative freedom than being limited by my physical appearance on stage or in film. This year I’ve taken multiple classes, one-on-ones, workshops in Commercial, Animation, Narration, and Trailer/Promo. It is a healthy obsession and I’ve met amazing people through these classes and at the Atlanta Voiceover Conference.
The best part is the simple truth that I love stepping into my home recording space and turning on the “On Air” sign and I look forward to the future it brings.
